GAMMA GAMMA CHI SORORITY, INC.

As salamu alaikum wa rahmatallahi wa baraktuhu,

Now, more than ever, Gamma Gamma Chi Sorority is very necessary.

​

Twenty one years ago, we started a journey based on hope and faith when we founded the first Islamic-based sorority. There was nothing like it, and we had no road map except for the sororities that were based on beliefs that did not conform to ours. Despite the lack of a clear direction, we were sure of one thing: a woman should not have to forego sorority life because of her religion, and she not have to compromise her religious beliefs in order to be a part of a sorority.

In the first eleven years of our existence, we inducted 62 members and established seven chapters in major metropolitan areas that brought together collegiate and professional woman, which was at the heart of the sorority's purpose: To unify collegiate and professional women who support our mission of bringing about positive visibility for Muslim women and Islam in general.

Several Muslim sororities have emerged since we founded Gamma in 2005. We welcome them and hope that we will be able to partner with them in the future, inshaAllah. Each sorority has a special place in offering a sorority experience to women who either are Muslims or who support our missions, and we are glad to have been trailblazers that led to the formation of other sororities and the expansion of Muslimahs in Greek Life.

Over the years, circumstances changed for many of our members, and they were no longer able to maintain active membership status.  We were forced to cease operations. As Allah would have it, a group of dedicated sorors came together in 2023 and re-established our sorority and established a foundation for us to proceed once again. Nothing happens except by the will of Allah (swt).

​

We added another chapter in 2025, Chi Chapter, which serves as the governing board for the sorority. Now that we have a critical mass of dedicated, committed sorors, we are taking the step of expanding our membership. Previously inducted sorors and those with an interest in joining the first Islamic-based sorority are welcome to apply for membership.

We approach this new phase of our sorority with hope and we ask Allah (swt) to bless and guide our sorority as we move forward. Allahumma Ameen.
